The Daoists were a peaceful people who believed that the way to goodness was to just let things be and to just watch them grow. They reject formal learning and ignore political and social laws, While the legalists were the complete opposite. The legalists believed that strict rule was necessary and that human were naturally selfish. Unlike the daoists they believed in severe punishments. The daoists believed that they should just let things run their course.

your topic sentence need to talk about both not just one type of people.It is not clear about what you are trying to say because you are not saying who is better. which makes it unclear.
